Class Parent and Alternate Guidelines & Responsibilities

Attached are the guidelines and responsibilities of the class parents and/or alternates. Before submitting your form for class parent, please remember that it is imperative that you be able to fulfill all the obligations listed below AND attend the class parent meeting at the school you are chosen for. Class parents are required to become HSA members, attend at least 3 monthly HSA meetings, volunteer/chair events and participate whenever possible.

 

Once class parents and/or alternates are selected, they will be notified via email and MUST attend the class parent meeting. The class parent meeting for Churchill is Monday, September 8th at 3:45 in the Churchill gym. The class parent meeting for Stevenson is Tuesday, September 9th at 3:45 in the Stevenson gym. During the meeting you will be given specific grade level directions by the teachers.

 

At BACK TO SCHOOL night, please collect class dues from the parents in your class.  Please make it clear these are SEPARATE from the HSA membership dues. Class dues are utilized to buy items for class parties and class specific holiday crafts and events. We also suggest requesting the parent(s)/guardians contact information to start a class chat for communication purposes. Class dues are $15.00 per child. No money is to be put out of the class parent's own pocket. If parents do not pay the class dues, please let us know.

 

HSA reserves the right to amend these guidelines throughout the school year.


Please note all events and activities are subject to change per the district guidelines.  We appreciate the time and effort you give to our students and teachers. Your efforts are what allow us to be successful. Please be sure to read the below school specific guidelines in their entirety before completing the Class Parent Sign Up form.

 

 

CLASS PARENT CONFIDENTIALITY POLICY

 

Confidentiality of students must be maintained at all times.


As per District Policy 9180 – School Volunteers


“Volunteers shall respect the individuality, dignity, and worth of each child” “Volunteers should exercise discretion in discussing their school activities with others in the community and must maintain confidential any information that if disclosed would violate Federal and State Laws”


Class parents are not permitted to take photos of children at school events (which include class trips, parties, etc.) and are prohibited from posting these pictures on social media websites.


Class Parents help, guide, and ensure the safety of the children they are responsible for and must refrain from talking or texting excessively on their cell phone.


Class parents are there to support the teachers and engage with the class during events. Events and in class opportunities are NOT to be utilized as a conference regarding your child or concerns.


Administration reserves the right to have a class parent removed through the HSA Presidents if district policies are not adhered to.

 

STEVENSON CLASS PARENT /ALTERNATE GUIDELINES


We are in need of 2 class parents and 1 alternate per class in Stevenson. If either of the class parents/alternate CANNOT participate in an event, it is your responsibility to reach out to your CLASSROOM TEACHER to fulfill the role accordingly. Please note all events and activities are subject to change per the district guidelines.

  • Class parents will provide items such as crafts, drinks, snacks, plates, napkins, etc.for class parties as directed by each grade level teacher coordinator. Please adhere to the items requested by the teacher/grade level coordinator. All food items requested must be NUT FREE. Please ask your teacher if there are any classroom allergies to make note of.
  • All class parents are required to assist with distribution of items for fundraisers and volunteer at the holiday fair.
  • Class parents may be required to pay to participate in class trips.
  • Class parents are expected to march in the Halloween parade with their classes. Costumes are encouraged.
  • Class parents are expected to be present for holiday parties which may include, but are not limited to, the Halloween party, the Holiday party in December, Valentine’s Day, and Spring party.
  • Class parents are expected to assist during end of year events such as Fun Day and Sports Day.
  • Details for parties and school events throughout the year will be provided by the teachers.
  • Details for additional food, snacks, crafts, etc. throughout the year will be provided by the teachers.

 

CHURCHILL CLASS PARENT GUIDELINES

We are in need of 2 class parents per class in Churchill and 1 alternate. If either of the class parents/alternate CANNOT participate in an event, it is your responsibility to reach out to your CLASSROOM TEACHER to fulfill the role accordingly. Please note all events and activities are subject to change per the district guidelines.

  • Class parents will provide refreshments for designated parties and any other event that is asked of them. Please adhere to the district NUT FREE allergy policy when serving refreshments. Additionally, check with your specific teacher for allergies within your class. Remember to purchase paper goods (i.e. napkins, plates, etc.)Class parents are to coordinate and confirm with their teachers/grade level coordinators for party dates, times, allergies, party themes, etc.
  • All class parents are required to assist with distribution of items for fundraisers and volunteer at the holiday fair.
  • Class parents may be required to pay to participate in class trips.
  • Parents do not participate in the Halloween 3rd/4th/5th Grade parade but are encouraged to come watch it. HSA provides snacks and/or drinks for the class parties.
  • Class parents attend the annual feast and assist in serving food.
  • Details for parties and/or additional school events throughout the year will be provided by the teachers.
  • Depending on grade level, class parents are expected to be present for holiday parties which may include, but are not limited to, the Halloween party, the Holiday party in December, Valentine’s Day, and Spring party.
  • Class parents are expected to attend and assist at end of year events such as Field Day and Fun Day.
  • 6th Grade parents: Class parent is a separate role from being a member of the 6th grade committee. One role does not guarantee the other.
